The Aleko Waterfalls are a beautiful water cascade located on the Skakavitsa River, directly above the low-mountain trail, between the neighborhoods of Dragalevtsi and Simeonovo. As the waterfalls are within a wooded area, they are best seen during winter and spring before abundant vegetation obscures the view. They are particularly stunning during the melting of snow in spring when the river can become so full that it hinders passage along the trail.
The local population refers to the waterfalls as "Skakavitsa" or "Skokovete," but in 1910, they were named after the founder of organized tourism in Bulgaria, Aleko Konstantinov, who often walked to them during his trips to the Dragalevtsi Monastery.
