Ivan Vazov was one of the famoust Bulgarian poets, novelists and playwrighters and is referred to as "the Patriarch of Bulgarian literature". Five years after his death in 1921, the house in which he has lived and worked for the longest time in his life has been opened as a museum. The house itself was built in 1895 and is located right in the city center at the intersection of the Rakovska and the current "Ivan Vazov" streets. On the first floor of the house you may see an artistic-documentary exhibition, which shows some of the unique gifts and awards received by the writer and also paintings and information for his life. A wide wooden staircase takes to the second floor, where you may see the cabinet of Ivan Vazov, with his workbench and personal library, other personal belongings, paintings, portraits and objects that help to create the unique spiritual atmosphere of this place. Next to the cabinet it's possible to see to the bedroom of the poet, where a small window shows the elegant clothes worn by the writer.
The museum is open between 10AM and 5PM every day except on Sunday and Monday.
